Summary:       This biking journey is filled with challenging climbs and seemingly endless descents on approximately 850 km of road. We will have some long days and several tough climbs, with one rest day on day 8. There are 12 passes to cross, the highest of which is Chele La (Day 12) at 3822 metres. The total amount of ascent is in excess of 15,000 metres. The descents are equally awesome. The road is generally low gradient, narrow and almost traffic-free. We will be biking at altitudes between 600 and 3822 metres and thus will notice a marked difference in temperatures, from very pleasant and warm to cold and frosty. Winter clothing is recommended as the highest passes and long descents are often cold. The average time in the saddle will vary between 6-8 hours each day, with at least 3 longer days of up to 12 hours (including stops). A support vehicle will accompany us throughout the whole journey which will carry your luggage and serve as your transport should you be having an off day.
